Affective Question - $5,000...REALLY?

I’ve gotten quite a few emails asking me what it is I am referring to with the “Affective Questions” that I occasionally talk about on this blog, and I would like to answer those now.  The “Affective Question” is a question posted weekly along the left hand side of your screen.  You can see it directly above the picture of the books.  The purpose of it is to challenge your thought process by giving you a question that evokes emotion.  It is not meant to solve the worlds problems or even your own problems, just to add some thought and emotion into your life.  The term “Affective” refers to one of your brains THREE domains, and is responsible for the emotion you experience, hence “Affective Questioning.”

This weeks Affective Question is one of my favorites!  The question asks, “If someone gave you $5,000, but with the stipulation that over a year's time you had to use all of it solely for self-improvement, what would you choose to do with the money?”  I favor this question because of the challenge it presents.  It makes you think about first, areas of your life that you would like to improve and second, ways to spend $5,000 doing so.  After all, that is a lot of money, and most of us would not invest that much into self-development.  Kind of an odd thought, huh?  We will spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a home, thousands of dollars on vacation and vehicles, and even hundreds of dollars on our daily wardrobe...but when it comes to self-development, $5,000 is WAY TO MUCH.  So let’s just say this question is a “What if.”  Have a Rockstar Weekend Everyone, and we’ll talk soon...
