When Sam Walton died he was the richest man in the world. However when he started his career he faced much adversity that almost stopped the success before it could happen. In the beginning, bankers refused to lend him money and certain suppliers created credit problems when they forced him to pay cash upon delivery of their products.
Both these events clearly show the lack of confidence others had in Walton's business strategy at a time when trust was what he needed the most. For Walton to succeed, he needed passion, attitude and a, "I will not go gentle into that good night!" attitude. For Walton to succeed, he had to overcome his personal fear of failure and stay focused on the task at hand. In the end, we all know what happened and who had the last laugh, enter Walmart. Sam Walton did the unthinkable by growing a business from a single store to becoming the World's largest employer. To his credit, he had both genius and luck on his side...
